I was approached to create an illustration for a book cover as well as consultation for the layout of the inside pages of a book aptly titled, "Many Ships, One Boat: Singapore Expat Tales and Tips." An informal reading about life in Singapore, one of the main objectives is to showcase to the outside world the depth and potential living standards of Singapore as foreigners now make up a third of Singapore's workforce (44% if permanent residents are included). the book provides a more human and anecdotal view of international resident's views on Singapore, through the delightfully different narrative styles of 20 meant as a publication of the writings of 20 Singapore expats currently living in this bustling island and they are from countries such as Germany, Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, The Philippines, Korea, Sweden, India and so forth. The writers each describe how they got to Singapore, their work experiences, ups and downs of daily life, cultural interactions and perceptions of everything from food to inter-racial relationships to politics and healthcare--with lots of humorous anecdotes thrown in.
